Total Community Benefit Exceeded 101 million in 2024
BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZ – Western Arizona Regional Medical Center provided care to thousands of area residents in 2024, with 171,600 patient encounters across its network of physician clinics and other outpatient sites of care. In addition to delivering safe, quality, compassionate healthcare, the health system is helping those in need, supporting charitable organizations and contributing to the area economy. In its most recent Community Benefit Report, WARMC’s impact totaled an estimated $101 million in 2024.
The WARMC Heart Center had a significant impact on community health with more than 1,600 hearts touched in its heart catheterization lab in 2024. With the recruitment of cardiologist Aditya Goud, M.D., four interventional cardiologists are on call in the WARMC Heart Center, making both emergency and scheduled heart care accessible 24 hours per day, every day.
“Our work to grow and enhance the medical services we provide is ongoing, as we continuously improve our safety and quality and support access to healthcare for our community,” said Michelle Cash, chief nursing officer at WARMC. “From providing care to our most vulnerable residents to supporting local charitable organizations, we are proud to make an impact on the health, well-being and quality of life in Bullhead City and throughout the Tri-state area.”
WARMC's emergency department provides lifesaving, medically necessary care at more than 27,000 patient encounters each year, treating all patients regardless of their ability to pay. In 2024, WARMC provided $38 million in charity and uncompensated care and provided resources to help patients in need to secure medications and medical support devices.
The health system and its employees also support local organizations that make a difference, especially those addressing social determinants of health. Service projects include the annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter drive for three area food banks and the organization contributes to charitable organizations such as local schools, Boys and Girls Club and local fire and police charities. WARMC team members are also engaging in acts of service such as Learn the Beat CPR lessons for more than 800 area eighth graders.
To enhance patient care and expand healthcare access, WARMC is investing in medical services, facilities and technologies. Capital projects in 2024 totaled $1.7 million and included completion of the ER Nurse First check in system to reduce wait times and improve care, by quickly assessing the patient’s condition and level of urgency.
Surgery services were strengthened with the addition of robotic surgical equipment and recruitment of colorectal surgeon Tijani Osumah, M.D., and orthopedic surgeon, James Ingram, M.D. We also welcomed long-time Bullhead City orthopedic surgeon Robert Lock, D.O., to our active medical staff.
Access to primary care has grown with recruitment of a family practice physician and two internal medicine physicians, as well as two additional primary care nurse practitioners.
“We are strategically applying our resources to help area residents have access to the care they need close to home,” said Cash. “These investments, along with our outstanding medical staff and employees, support our delivery of high quality medical care and services for a positive patient experience.”
WARMC is one of the community’s largest employers with a payroll of $55.9 million. Support for the future healthcare workforce includes training the next generation of medical professionals through our Nurse Resident training program. In addition to supporting the local economy through job creation, WARMC paid $1.2 million in taxes in 2024, monies that support local infrastructure and civic resources.
