WARMC Begins Jars of Love Peanut Butter Direve to Support Local Food Banks
3/14/2025
BULLHEAD CITY – Last week, Western Arizona Regional Medical Center kicked off its annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, in partnership with the Bullhead Regional Food Bank. The organizations are inviting community members to participate in this effort to fight hunger in the local area. Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive will run through March 24.
“WARMC not only supports the patients who come through our doors, we are also committed to supporting better health throughout our community,” said Teri Tomlinson, Chairwoman of the WARMC Board of Trustees. Tomlinson also serves as the treasurer for the Food Bank. “An estimated 17% of people in Mohave County are facing food insecurity, which has a profound impact on overall health and well-being. With the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive we can help a vital community organization reduce hunger in our area.”
In 2024 the Bullhead City food bank distributed more than 2 million pounds of food to families and individuals in need. Currently, the daily client count is about 200.
The Jars of Love committee has set a goal of collecting 4,000 jars of peanut butter, which will be shared at food banks in Needles, Fort Mohave, Laughlin and Bullhead City, according to Stephen Brown, executive director of Bullhead Regional Food Bank.
“We appreciate WARMC stepping up to organize this drive. They have set a commendable goal and we will need our community to help fulfill it,” Brown said. “Peanut Butter is a good source of protein, and we have many families in need.”
Collection boxes are located in several local businesses including Bullhead City Safeway, National Bank of Arizona, Foothills Bank, Mad Dogs Fitness, Ashley Home Furniture, and Western Arizona Regional Medical Center.
