Medical Leadership Elected at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center

Physician leadership positions have been established for 2022 and 2023 at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center. Waheed Zehri, M.D., was elected to serve in his third term as WARMC’s chief of staff; Warren Mays, M.D., will serve his second term as vice chief of staff and Howard Morris, M.D., was elected for his first term as the treasurer of the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee.
Richard Cardone, M.D., was appointed chief of surgery and Brian Womack, D.O., was appointed chief of medicine. As chief of staff, Dr. Zehri holds the authority to make these appointments.
“It is my honor to be elected by my physician peers to serve as chief of staff for another term. As a medical staff team we will continue to strive to deliver the highest quality of care to our community,” Zehri said.
The Medical Executive Committee is responsible for the governance of the hospital’s medical staff. They serve as the connection between the medical staff, hospital administration and the board of trustees.
Dr. Zehri is an independent internal medicine physician, practicing in Bullhead City for more than 25 years. He is a member of the WARMC Board of Trustees, founded the Tri-state Youth Internship and Leadership organization as well as the Mohave Health Coalition. He also serves as a Bullhead City councilman.
Dr. Mays has been the director of the department of radiology at WARMC for the past six years. He is the full time radiologist, interpreting CAT Scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, mammograms and performing interventional radiology. Mays is originally from Pittsburg, PA, and trained at St. Vincent Hospital in Manhattan.
Dr. Morris is an internist, serving as an emergency medicine physician at WARMC. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and began his career in the Washington D.C. area. Dr. Morris moved to Arizona in 2012. He also serves as a member of the WARMC Board of Trustees.
Dr. Cardone is a general surgery specialist in private practice in Bullhead City. He graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1980 and has spent the majority of his 30-year career as a surgeon practicing in the Bullhead City area. Dr. Cardone also serves as WARMC trustee and is president of the board of Colorado River Union High School.
Dr. Womack is an Arizona native, and completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University. He has been in private practice as a family medicine physician in the Tri-state area since 2000. In addition, he serves as a hospitalist at WARMC and serves on the WARMC Board of Trustees.
Members at large on the medical executive committee are Interventional Cardiologist Malik Rahim, M.D., of Western Arizona Cardiology and Cardiologist Ricardo Alfafara, M.D., of Southwest Cardiovascular Associates.
